This is a beautiful example of a scarce, late production Marble's Safety Axe Co. Model 1908 combination 22/44 pistol. This model is commonly referred to as the Marbles "Game Getter." These were manufactured circa 1908-18 and were eventually restricted by the 1934 Omnibus Crime Bill. The left side of the barrel block is marked: "-MANUFACTURED BY THE-/MARBLE SAFETY AXE CO./-GLADSTONE, MICH.U.S.A.-/MARBLE ARMS & MFG.CO./SUCCESSOR, " and the left side of the frame marked: "GAME GETTER". The right side of the barrel block is marked "CALIBER 22 & 44," and the lower right side of the frame marked "PATENT/ALLOWED." It is fitted with a folding wire stock that is mounted into the center of the pistol grip and folds forward. When extended it has an overall length of 29 inches. It is fitted with a folding tang mount target type rear sight and a single bead front sight. The hammer has a two-position firing pin, so you can to select which cartridge you intend to shoot. It is fitted with Marbles trademark grips.
Excellent with 90% plus of the slightly faded original blue finish overall with only very minor edge and high spot wear and a small patch of wear on the very front left side of the barrel probably from an old time holster. The stock retains 85% of its nickel plated finish with the balance a brown patina finish. The grips are good with a few scuffs and spots of verdigris. Mechanically very good.
