The included Cody Firearms Museum Records Office serial number verification form confirms the rifle configuration, caliber, octagon barrel and plain trigger. The rifle was shipped on July 31, 1905. The rifle has a blade front sight and an elevation adjustable rear sight. The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address/patent marking and "38-55." Winchester factory proofs are stamped on top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The upper tang has the three-line model/trademark information. Mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock fitted with a crescent buttplate.

Excellent. The rifle retains 95% original blue finish showing some thinning to a brown. The hammer and lever retain 75% original case colors, and the buttplate retains flashes of original case colors. The wood is excellent with some minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
