Barrel: 22 inch round

Stock: walnut

Description:

The manufacturer's marking on the left side above the Merwin & Bray agent markings are not clear, but the presence of a serial number below and the caliber suggests it was manufactured by either Dwight, Chapin, & Co. or Ball & Williams in 1863 or 1864. It has a blade front sight, two leaf rear sight graduated out to 500 yards, standard patent and manufacturer markings on the frame, manual ejector below the barrel, and smooth stock and forearm with sling swivels on the barrel band and butt.

Rating Definition:

Good. The barrel retains strong traces of the faded original blue finish, and the action is mostly gray with some brown patches and light pitting. The wood is fair and has various minor pressure marks, dents, and scratches. The action needs work. The hammer will not hold at half or full cock.
