Description:

This is a rare example of one of the estimated 50 Fourth Model Figure 8 Revolvers that were manufactured by Savage & North from 1856 to 1859. The revolver is very similar to the Third Model but with an iron frame and flat sides. The number "4" is marked on the loading lever. The top strap is stamped "E. SAVAGE, MIDDLETOWN CT./H.S. NORTH PATENTED JUNE 17TH 1856". The left side of the loading lever is stamped with the two line 1858 patent date (faint). Fitted with smooth varnished walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Good. The revolver has a mottled gray patina with some very minor pitting. The bottom of the trigger guard exhibits file marks as does the left side plate. The period refinished grips are very good with two small notches on the left panel, a hairline crack near the top (left panel) and some minor handling marks. Mechanically fine. These Figure 8 Savage North Revolvers are seldom encountered in any condition!
