Description:

This is an excellent example of a very rare original late production Inland Div "M2" carbine as manufactured in mid 1945. This carbine was produced under a US Army/ Inland contract in the first production group of original "M2" carbine starting in April 1945. The serial number range of these M2 carbines is "6,664884-7,234,883", with the actual production of this example May/June 1945. This example also has the very rare "hand-stamped" M2 model markings on the receiver ring. These hand stamped carbines were produced when Inland was manufacturing both "semi-automatic" and "full automatic" carbines at the same time, with all the same receiver markings and based on which model the Army contracted for they were stamped either with a "1" or "2". The front of the receiver is roll marked with the standard markings of "U.S. CARBINE/CAL .30 M" with the hand stamped number "2" and the rear of the receiver is roll stamped with"INLAND DIV." over serial number "7016877" under the adjustable rear sight. The top front of the barrel is marked "INLAND MFG. DIV./GENERAL MOTORS/2-45". It has all the correct late features such as the round bolt, type three barrel band, adjustable rear sight marked "PI" on the side, flip safety, and late M2 style magazine catch with the secondary catch on the end. It has the correct low wood, late 1945 style M1 type stock modified for use with the M2 components, with the oval slot cut for the oiler. There are no cartouches or proof marks however there is a "HI" subcontract stamp in the sling slot. It is fitted with the correct "IO" marked four rivet handguard. The carbine is fitted with the late parts with the M2 trigger housing having an inverted "INLAND" marking. It is complete with a GI green web sling, and one 15 round magazine.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% plus of a dark gray arsenal reparkerized finish overall, with wear on the edges and high spots with finish loss on the exposed section of the bolt. The stock and handguard are both in excellent condition with only minor handling marks on the sides. A very fine example or a WWII Inland Division, M2 Carbine. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This item is restricted as a National Firearms Act (NFA), Fully Automatic Weapon that is currently registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (BATF&E) that has been classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
