Description:

Manufactured in Belgium in 1971, this Olympian Grade rifle received the attention of two of Fabrique Nationale's resident master engravers in addition to a top of the line stock and precise hand fitting of the components. The blue barrel is manufactured without sights or mounting points and has a 2 inch long leafy scroll wedge engraved on each side of the breech, the St.Louis/Montreal Browning address on the left, and the caliber and proofmarks on the right. The fine, satin finished receiver assembly is decorated with deeply cut leafy scrollwork and burst patterns on the bolts and screws and features a Baerten signed and engraved wild game scene on both sides of the front ring. The floor plate is covered with a Madis signed scene of a wildcat descending a dead tree, and the trigger guard is decorated with a goat's head against a background of mountains. The stock is constructed from extra-fancy, high gloss finished, checkered walnut in a Monte Carlo pattern with bright contrasting hardwood on the tip and grip cap, deeply carved scroll accents and punched texturing around and among the checkered panels, an unmarked golden diamond panel on the grip, raised right handed cheekpiece, and a black plastic Browning buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% plus original blue finish showing a few light handling marks overall and a tiny amount of wear on the receiver. The stock is very fine with a number of dents and scratches as well as a few dings on the checkering. Most of this wear is superficial but is affecting the wood in a few location, and the buttplate shows some small voids and chips. Additionally, the wood shows no evidence of being made from a "salt cured" blank. Mechanically excellent and sharply engraved.
