Sometimes referred to as the Centennial Model, this 1876 rifle was manufactured in 1885. Third model with the dust cover integrally machined as part of the receiver. German silver blade front and adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sights. The caliber is marked in three places on the rifle: "50 CAL EXPRESS" on top of the barrel and "WINCHESTER EXPRESS / .50 CAL. 95 GRS." on the dust cover and "50-95" on the brass carrier. The top of the barrel is marked "WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT. / -KING'S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29, 1866. OCTOBER 16, 1860.-" in two lines. Full length tubular magazine. Model designation on the upper tang with serial stamped on the lower tang. The hammer and lever are casehardened. Smooth straight grip walnut stock with sling swivels, crescent buttplate with brass trap. No letter present at time of writing, but appears correct caliber.

Rating Definition:

Good. The (possibly shortened) barrel has a mottled gray/brown patina showing signs of cleaning with spotting and surface scratches throughout. There are a few deeper dings just below the rear sight on the left side. The receiver retains strong traces of original blue in protected areas concentrated under the lever with the balance a mottled gray patina with scratches from steel wool as well as a spotting. The stock is good with pressure dents and dings throughout, somewhat heavier on the buttstock. The action is crisp.
