This relief engraved pair of percussion pistols was manufactured by Guiosson, a French gunsmith from St. Etienne. The round barrel section has a high polished blue finish with the remaining metal surfaces left in the white. The barrel is rifled. The frame, octagon barrel section, hammer, buttcap and folding trigger have a deep relief engraving with a matted, textured background. The engraving includes geometric motifs and a floral scroll pattern. The geometric motif is featured on the octagon barrel section, and the remaining components have a floral engraving. The trigger is marked "ST. ETIENNE" on the front. The grip has a deep relief floral scroll carving on the flat sides and deep flutes on the grip area. The buttcap also acts as a percussion cap compartment. Overall length is 8 1/4 inches. The case has a highly figured walnut veneer and red velvet lining. The case lid has an engraved initial plaque. The case holds both pistols and the following accessories: bullet starter, full coverage deep relief engraved bullet mold with early conical base plug that comes as a key ring type accessory, plain small powder flask and percussion cap container. A handle to the bullet mold also acts as a nipple wrench. The bullet mold has deep relief engraved floral and geometric engraved patterns with grotesque heads over the lead entry holes.
