A) Woodward's Patent Pistol

Each barrel is stamped with two British proofs with an additional proof on the right side of the frame. The breech and muzzle end of the barrel rib, frame and back strap are engraved with fine English scroll. The left side of the frame is stamped "WOODWARD'S PATENT/5494". Tang mounted sliding hammer safety, casehardened barrels, silver frame and niter blue hammer, safety and trigger, and fitted with checkered walnut grips. Comes in a wooden case shared with "B", with blue fabric lining and an aluminum oiler.

ConditionVery fine. The barrels retain 80% original case colors with a smooth mottled gray patina on the balance. The frame retains 60% original silver plating which is beginning to darken with age. Most of the original bright niter blue remains on the hammer and safety. The grips are also very fine with a few minor nicks and dings in the otherwise crisp checkering. The markings and engraving are clear. Mechanically fine. The case is good with some of the veneer on the lid absent along the rear edge, the lid is slightly warped, and the inlaid brass shield is absent. The lining is very good with some contact wear and soiling.

ConditionVery fine. The barrels retain 80% original case colors mixed with a smooth dove gray patina. The frame retains 60% original silver plating with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The hammer, trigger and safety retain most of the original bright niter blue finish. The grips are excellent with light handling marks and sharp checkering. Mechanically needs adjustment, as the barrels do not lock at both positions. The markings and engraving are clear.
