Created by an unknown craftsman, the overall construction of the suit follows patterns and trends seen in 17th century Japanese armor, but with the armored plates constructed from pressed, treated and painted fabric. The chain segments are of darkened steel construction with a 4-1 configuration and pressed links. The main plates are painted black with cloth and silver accents and the tatami plates on the arm and leg guards are painted gold, secured with lengths of cord (mostly green for the structural parts, with blue and floral patterned accents), showing an unidentified mon on the shoulder guards, with sections of blue-green cloth. The helmet has a prominent gold painted detachable paulownia emblem, a classical symbol of both the Imperial family and the government of modern Japan.
