This is a very fine example of a seldom encountered Mauser Model 1896 "six-shot" cone hammer semi-automatic pistol that is complete with an original matching combination walnut shoulder stock/holster. This model became the final standard frame configuration for the standard 1896 pattern throughout production. This beautiful pistol has the early long extractor, large milled frame panel on the right side, the large milled, raised frame panel on the left side, early dovetailed firing pin retainer, early wide trigger, and non-reinforced chamber area. The right side of the barrel extension has the early Mauser antler firing proof, and the left side has single "double crown/U" proof. It is marked: "WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF A/N" over the chamber area. The barrel has the banded front sight base with the fixed front sight, and the rear of the upper receiver is milled flat and fitted with a fixed rear sight. It has the standard late pattern 23-groove walnut grips, both correctly numbered on the back sides. This pistol is complete with the lanyard ring stud and ring on the butt and its original matching combination wooden shoulder stock/holster.

Very fine with 80% plus of the blue finish remaining overall, edge and high spot wear, and blue loss on the front of the frame, the frame rails and lower edges mixed with some blue loss and mixed gray patina on the grip straps and some old touch up on the upper portion of the rear strap. The straw colors have silvered out, and the smaller parts retain 90% of their heat blued finish overall. The stock is in fine condition overall with a nice dark colored walnut with light handling marks and light pressure dents on both sides, 80% of the blue finish on the hinge assembly, and mostly a dark blue finish on the attaching iron. The stock will not fully slide into the shoulder stock slot on the frame, needs fitting. The left side of the stock has a small crack emanating from the lower corner of the hinge plate, and the lid was cracked through the middle at some point and has now been very nicely repaired.
