Desirable U.S. Army Springfield Armory M1D Garand Sniper Rifle with M84 Scope and Flash Hider

This is a nice example of a late WWII M1 Garand rifle that was converted into a M1D Garand type sniper rifle during the Korean War. This receiver is marked "U.S. RIFLE/CAL 30 M1/SPRINGFIELD ARMORY/3316045", however the receiver does not show any depot rebuild marks. The right side of the barrel is marked "D7312555 MD-34 S A 11-52" and the operating rod is a early post WWII version marked "D35383 SA". The remaining parts are a mix of early and late WWII SA marked parts. The receiver is fitted with a post war rear sight set that is marked "DRC" on the right side, with a wide base gas cylinder and a post war gas cylinder lock. It has a very nice walnut stock and handguard set with just a boxed "SA/GAW" cartouche on the left side with a single "P" proof in the pistol grip area. It is fitted with a leather cheekpiece marked "MRT-3-52". The rifle is complete with an original M84 sniper scope and a very rough cast/reproduction scope mount with replacement screws. The identification plate is marked "TELESCOPE M84 SERIAL NO. 1970" and it has reproduction rubber eye protector. The rifle is complete with a Hart marked M2 Flash Hider and a early green canvas sling.

ConditionVery fine as arsenal refurbished with 95% of its dark gray/black arsenal parkerized finish overall with edge and high spot wear with cycling wear on top of the bolt and receiver rail. The stock and handguards are both in very fine condition with nice distinct cartouches on the sides, showing only minor handling marks. The leather pad is in very fine condition with a nice dark color overall with tight stitching and leather laces. The scope retains 95% of it blued finish overall with clear optics showing only a couple minor specks inside. The knobs move freely and one of the covers is a replacement. This rifle does not have any CMP/DCM release papers.
