Manufactured in 1964, ahead of the BATFE's rolling 50-year definition of a Curio and Relic Long gun, with a proper arrangement of early AR-15/M16 features. A prime example of the Colt AR-15 SP-1 Rifle, the importance of these early AR-15s to the development of both military and civilian rifles in the late 20th and early 21st centuries can not be overstated. 3-prong flash hider and a bayonet lug on the "s 12" marked barrel, with an elevation adjustable post front sight on the gas port assembly and a 2-leaf windage adjustable rear sight. The AR-15 nomenclature and Rampant Colt logo are present on the lower receiver, and the upper receiver is properly without a casing deflector or forward assist. The bolt carrier is properly devoid of serrations for the assist, with a chromed bolt head and a two-piece recoil buffer. Fitted with a vented triangular handguard, checkered pistol grip and a fixed buttstock with a rubber buttplate and no storage compartment. Included with the rifle is a black canvas sling and two Colt 20-round magazines.
Excellent, with 95% of the original matte black finish, showing a few light scuffs and handling marks overall, with the stock in similar condition. Mechanically excellent.
