Excellent. The rifle retains 95% original blue finish. The barrel, magazine and forearm cap retain nearly all of the blue finish; wear is limited to some extensive very minor scratches along the bottom of the magazine and forearm cap and several very small spots of pitting along the right side of the barrel. The receiver has close to 95% original finish with a few light storage scratches and several small spots of age discoloration or shallow pitting. Nearly all of the commercial blue finish is present on the dust cover. The loading gate has nearly all of the fire blue finish. The buttplate retains nearly all of the original case colors with some patches of darker age discoloration. The wood is excellent and retains nearly all of the original finish with minimal handling wear. There is a 1/2-inch dent and several smaller scratches on the lower right side of the stock. The dent shows traces of an old repair and is hard to spot without close examination. This is an excellent example of a classic "Gun that Won the West" Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action rifle.
