Manufactured in 1889. Dovetailed blade front sight and folding ladder rear sight absent of graduation markings. The two-line address is marked on the top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight, and "45-90 W.C.F." is at the breech. The receiver, forend cap, buttplate and lever are casehardened. Winchester discontinued the use of casehardened frames in 1901. The barrel, full length tubular magazine, bolt and trigger are blue. 1884 and 1885 patent dates and the serial number are marked on the lower tang, and the upper tang is marked "-MODEL 1886-". Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with a steel forend cap and straight grip stock with a special order shotgun buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel and magazine tube retain 70% original blue finish with some thinning on the magazine tube and minor spotting on the barrel. The bolt retains 90% bright blue finish with some minor spotting. The receiver retains 30% original vivid case colors and most of the original vivid case colors remain on the sides of the lever. The buttplate has a smooth dark patina. The wood is good with some tiny white paint speckles on the stock, and overall scattered minor dents, dings and scratches. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
