The Model 2 was manufactured from 1873 to 1910 in a wide variety of calibers. It is based on the rolling block pistol action rather than the large No. 1 action used on the prior larger military, hunting, and target rifles. This example was manufactured in .38 centerfire and has a dovetailed blade front sight, adjustable sporting rear sight, smooth stock and forearm with lightly curved profile. It has matching serial numbers. Additional Information: The top barrel flat is marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y." and the left side of the receiver is stamped with the six line Remington factory patent dates, the last one dated "Sept 1873".

Excellent. 98% plus of the original blue, niter blue, and vivid casehardened finish remains. There are some light marks throughout and some minor edge wear. The wood is also in excellent condition and has some slight pressure marks from handling and storage and a long, light scratch along the right side of the butt. Mechanically excellent.
