This is an exceptional example of First Model, First Variation Manhattan Arms 22 caliber revolver manufactured circa 1860 to 1861 with a total production of approximately 1,600. This revolver has an iron rounded, silver plated frame with a circular iron frame plate on the left side, 7 round cylinder with stops on the breech end, stop on the top strap and 6 groove barrel. The cylinder and barrel are blue with the standard scroll engraving on the side flats of the barrel and the trigger and hammer are casehardened. No markings except for the matching serial number on the left side of the frame under the grip and on the rear of the barrel lug. Silver blade front sight and fitted with two piece smooth varnished walnut grips. Complete in an original two piece box with affixed label on the lid with a picture of a pocket revolver and reading "SEVEN SHOT PISTOL/made by/THE MANHATTAN FIRE ARMS/MANUFACTURING COMPANY/NEW YORK". The inside the box is a 15 round wooden bullet block with 14 22 caliber rounds that are head stamped "H".
