Description:

Manufactured in limited quantities between 1911 and 1922, with a few small batches assembled from available parts up to 1932, the Model 1911 was designed as a training counterpart to the 32 Metropolitan Police Automatic. In ergonomics very similar to the police pistol, the 1911 uses a straight blowback auto-ejecting action, being reloaded by hand. Sold chiefly to police forces in the Commonwealth, few examples bear the "MADE IN ENGLAND" mark placed on handguns destined for the United States. Fixed sights, with the Webley & Scott address and winged bullet on the left side of the slide, "'22 RIM FIRE.LONG" and "MADE IN ENGLAND" on the right, and Birmingham proofs on many parts. Fitted with a manual ejector, bright ring hammer, smooth trigger, and checkered grips. Provisioned for shoulder stock. With an unmarked brown leather holster.

Rating Definition:

Very good as completely refinished by renowned gun restoration expert Gale Morgan as stated by the consignor with most of the current high polish blue, showing some fading of the markings, mild handling marks, and a few rough spots beneath the finish, mostly on the serrations. The front sight has been cut down and the rear sight opened up to a square notch, possibly a period of use modification. The grips are fine, with a few light scuffs, and the holster is in fine condition. Mechanically excellent.
