Description:

This is another rare example of an early Italian designed experimental semi-automatic rifle. This is a very rare rifle that there is no information about and which probably indicates it is the only one still in existence today. It looks very similar to the Italian 6.5 Carcano bolt action rifle only larger and with a semi-automatic action. This was probably developed in the late 1920/early 30s and is chambered in the Italian 6.5 Carcano cartridge. It has a very unique cocking lever which is mounted on the underside of the forend that double as the forward sling swivel. It has a small round bolt without the normal front locking lugs that reciprocates down inside the receiver. The left side of the receiver ring is marked with serial number "A 7". It has a action/bolt top cover over the rear of the rifle which is marked on top "SEMIAUTOMATICO/a large Italian Crest/MOD 39/BREVETTATO". The right side is stamped "Genova Armaguerra Genova," and the left side reads "Stabilumento DLCremona 1940-XVIII". It has a full length stock with a perforated metal heat shield/barrel cover on the rear half of the barrel. The left side of the buttstock is fitted with a rectangular brass plaque that reads "ArmaGuerro/Fabbrica armi portabili/Cremona/Fucille semiautomatico/Mod 39".

Rating Definition:

Fine condition with 8700% of the slightly faded original blue finish overall that has mixed with a brown patina overall. The rear action cover has turned to a mixed silver/brown patina finish. The stock is in good condition showing numerous light handling marks, scratches and dings on the sides. The brass plate is contemporary to the rifle and is securely held on by two brass screws. A very interesting and certainly unique early Italian experimental semi-automatic rifle. Writer cannot recall us offering another example like this!
