Description:

Manufactured in 1939 as part of a 3,639 piece run exclusively for the United States Navy. At this point in production, the Government had ceased using branch-particular nomenclature on 1911A1s purchased for the Navy and the Marine Corps, hence why this pistol is marked "U.S. ARMY" on the frame. Round blade front and flat top notch rear sights, with the two line, two block address/patent marking with the Rampant Colt in the center on the left side of the matching numbered slide and "P" on top. The frame is marked "P/H" near the magazine catch, with "X/VP" and "77" on the trigger guard and the aforementioned Army nomenclature. Fitted with a short milled trigger, long grip safety, wide checkered hammer, arched checkered mainspring housing, checkered walnut grips and a "COLT 45 AUTO" barrel with a large "G" ahead of the lug. Magazine not included.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 60% of the original blue finish showing bright edge wear, a mixed gray patina with mild dings on the grip straps, scattered white and brown spotting, minor takedown lines, and light handling marks. The grips are fair earlier production replacements with chipping around the screws, white paint on the right side and mild rubbing and dents. Mechanically excellent.
