Located in Southern Austria, Ferlach has a long and upstanding tradition of producing some of the finest hunting weapons of all types, dating back to the 1500s and continuing to this day. Ferlach firearms are known to have the perfect balance of quality, beauty, craftsmanship and functionality. Today, there are 13 companies making guns. These companies are family groupings, and some of the best known of these families are most often encountered in the U.S. with names such as Hauptmann, Winkler and Michelitsch, just to name a few. This particular rifle was made by Franz Sodia and features a box lock action, ramp blade front sight and fixed leaf notch rear sight mounted on a quarter rib, which is marked "FRANZ SODIA, FERLACH." The bottom of the barrels are marked "BOHLER RASANT" and "375 H&H MAGNUM" and have German proofmarks. The receiver is scroll and border engraved. The underside of the frame is marked "FRANZ SODIA FERLACH" amongst the scrollwork. The receiver is finished gray, the remaining parts are blue, polished water table, polished smooth double triggers, manual tang mounted safety, sling swivels and mounted with nicely figured forearm and pistol grip stock with multi-point checkering. The forearm hardware is engraved with floral scroll designs. The stock has a cheekpiece and serrated plastic buttplate. Length of pull is 14 1/8 inches.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The rifle retains 98% plus of the original blue and gray finishes showing a limited minor handling marks. The wood is also excellent showing a few minor handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
