Documented Argentina Shipped Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine with Factory Letter

Third Model manufactured in 1918 with the distinctive dust rail integral to the top of the receiver. Pinned blade front sight and folding ladder rear sight graduated to 200 yards. The left side of the barrel is marked with the standard two line address/King's improvement patent dates ahead of the rear sight and "44 W.C.F." at the breech. The Winchester oval proof is marked on top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The upper tang is marked with the three line model, maker, trademark information, the serial number is on the lower tang and the bottom of the brass cartridge elevator is marked "44 CAL." Saddle ring and staple are mounted on the left side of the receiver, and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with an iron carbine buttplate with compartment containing two of the three pieces for the cleaning rod. The accompanying factory letter verifies the carbine configuration, caliber, that it was received in the warehouse on February 28, 1918, and shipped to Lestoni & Facetty in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on May 24, 1918, order number 846931.

ConditionVery fine. The barrel and magazine tube retain 97% original blue finish with some very minor muzzle wear and some scattered very minor spotting. The receiver retains 60% original blue finish with a majority of the finish loss due to flaking. There are a few small gouges on the left side of the receiver, areas of smooth brown patina and some very minor spotting. The wood is also very fine with a varnish run on the left side of the forearm and overall some scattered minor dents, dings and scratches. The markings are crisp and clear. The action functions fine but the lever drops when the catch is open.
