This is an example of a Third Model Winchester-Hotchkiss Bolt-Action musket that was manufactured in 1885. Pinned blade front and military style tangent rear sight on a barrel marked with the two-line address. "-MODEL 1883-" is on the upper receiver tang. The Winchester-Hotchkiss patent dates are roll-stamped on the lower tang in three-lines. There are no visible government inspection or acceptance marks. Mounted with a smooth musket type stock fitted with two "U" marked barrel bands.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The rifle retains traces of faded original blue finish in the protected areas, otherwise a mottled gray patina. The wood is also very good with a shallow thumb print sized pressure dent on the buttstock, some scattered chipping around the metal components and some minor pressure dents, and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
