One of the first 100 Model 1892s manufactured. The factory letter confirms it received its serial number on April 19, 1892, arrived in the warehouse on May 5, and shipped from the warehouse on August 23 as part of order number 1107 as a .44 caliber rifle with a octagon barrel and plain trigger. It features: German silver blade dovetail front sight and adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sporting sights, the standard early two-line New Haven barrel address, and "44 W.C.F." at the breech, smooth straight grip stock and forearm, metal forearm cap, and a smooth buttplate. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1892 / -WINCHESTER- / PAT. OCT. 14. 1884", and the serial number is on the underside of the frame.
Good as period refinished with most of a dull, faded blue finish showing edge wear, mild handling marks, and finished over pitting. The stock is very good as revarnished and has some mild pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
