This antique rifle was manufactured in 1897. The included factory letter confirms the takedown rifle configuration, caliber, round barrel, plain trigger and half magazine tube. The rifle was received in the warehouse on August 23, 1900, and shipped on the same day. Equipped with a blade front sight, elevation adjustable rear sight and Marble folding tang peep sight. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address ahead of the rear sight and "38-55" at the breech. The takedown lever has the 1893 patent date. The serial number is marked on the underside of the frame. Mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with crescent buttplate.
