The revolver was manufactured in 1881 and has coverage scroll and punch dot New York retailer applied engraving patterns. The scroll engraving is featured on the barrel sides, frame sides and cylinder flats. The top strap and the rear of the cylinder feature an engraved wavy line motif. A fan pattern is engraved on top of the back strap and on the loading gate. A start burst is engraved on the trigger guard. Wedges of scrollwork are featured on the butt and back strap. The top of the barrel has the two-line Hartford address inside a panel, and the left side of the frame has the three-line patent marking. The left front of the trigger guard has "45 CAL." Matching serial numbers are marked on the barrel under the ejector housing, side of the cylinder, bottom of the frame and trigger guard, and on the butt. It is equipped with standard sights and fitted with a smooth one-piece grip. The brown leather holster and cartridge belt are unmarked. Included with the revolver are 35 rounds of .45 Colt ammunition. Most of the ammunition has Remington-U.M.C. head stamps.
