This pistol has no visible markings but has attractive scroll engraving and traditional Henry Deringer style features.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 60% brown finish on the barrel and faint casehardened finish on the lock. The balance has gray and brown patina. The German silver has aged patina. The stock is very good with crisp checkering, refreshed varnish, and minor flaking. The lock is mechanically fine. The engraving is crisp.

Description:

Manufactured by James E. Evans in Philadelphia in or before 1865. Marked "J. E. EVANS PHILADA" on top of the barrel.

Rating Definition:

Very good with faint Damascus patterns and an even blend of finish and brown patina on the barrel, light case colors on the lock, and aged patina on the German silver. The refinished wood is good with some areas of smoothing of the checkering, minor marks and scratches, and most of the oil finish. The lock is mechanically fine, and the markings are crisp.
