This pre-war rifle was proofed in 1925 and has "HAENEL ORIGINAL AYDT" on the top of the receiver, "SPECIAL AUSFUHRUNG" on the upper right barrel flat, "C. G. HAENEL, SUHL" on the top barrel flat, and "DER FIRMA ADOLF LOESCHE HANNOVER" on the upper left barrel flat. The action is engraved with Germanic floral scrollwork with silver accents and has a silver portrait of a German sportsman on the right. Post front sight with partial globe on a ramped base, dovetail rear quarter rib of the barrel marked 1-3 for a removable rear sight, adjustable diopter rear sight in an integral base on the upper tang, removable double set trigger group, smooth Schnabel tip forearm, and Tyrolean style stock with multi-point checkering, massive cheekpiece, thumb rest, and single hook buttplate. The forearm has a German silver plate inscribed "Hermann Hoyer." Among the possible original owners is Hermann Otto Hoyer, an artist and early member of the Nazi party.

Very good. The barrel retains 90% of the original blue finish. There is some fading on the forward section to a dark brown patina. The other components retain browned case colors and have some light spotting. The wood is good and has crisp checkering, some dings and minor dents, and a few scratches. The action and set triggers function very well, and the markings are crisp. This is a very attractive rifle with distinctive engraving built on the popular Aydt system.
