Description:

This revolver is similar to those by Eugene Lefaucheux and is clearly based on his designs. The barrel and cylinder have Birmingham proofmarks. The top of the upper barrel has a blade front sight and "C. Bissel 28 Moland St Birmingham." Charles Bissel was active in the mid to late 19th century. The grips are checkered, and there is a lanyard loop on the butt. The trigger is folding. Each pull of the trigger slightly rotates the cylinder so that the shots alternate between the upper and lower ring of the cylinder and fire through the corresponding barrels. Similar revolvers may have been imported and used during the Civil War. More traditional Lefaucheux revolvers are known to have been used by both sides.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The revolver has 25% of the refinished dull blue otherwise brown patina. There are some spots of mostly mild oxidation. The grips are very good and have mostly crisp checkering and a few minor marks. The action is mechanically fine, and the markings are crisp.
