John Martz (d. 2013) is known as the foremost name of custom Luger conversions. His pieces are listed in the "Blue Book of Gun Values" and the "Standard Catalog of Firearms" records that 83 of this caliber were manufactured, very of few of which had scopes. This example uses a 1916 dated DWM Imperial Army Luger as the basis for a carbine-profile weapon with a number of intriguing features: The custom 16 inch barrel has been fitted with an integral scope block carrying a long eye relief Leupold pistol scope. The Martz Safe Toggle Release upgrade has been performed turning the safety lever to a dual purpose safety and toggle release. The frame beneath the side plate is stamped "JM (32) M.S.T.R." Matching numbers are on several parts. It also has straw finished small components, a Mec-Gar brand magazine, and a detachable walnut shoulder stock with bright hardware numbered "1391" and "8831", checkered wrist, and a serrated buttplate.

Very fine with 98% of the custom rust blue finish and minor handling marks and edge wear overall. The original markings are slightly faded but still primarily legible, and bright color is present on the straw components. The wood is near mint with crisp checkering and a few mild dings. The optics are crisp. Mechanically excellent.
