Produced in the Remington Factory Custom Shop, a Premier Grade firearm starts with a full set of fresh components, which are then hand-fitted and assembled by a master gunsmith, subjected to engraving and embellishment representing up to an entire week of a skilled engraver's labor, and finished off with a set of top quality hardwood furniture, in this case an attractive checkered pistol grip walnut stock. A dovetailed bead front sight and folding adjustable notch rear sight are installed on the barrel shroud, with the two-line address and patent date on top set in a scroll, a pair of 4 1/2 inch long wedges of scroll and leaf pattern engraving at the breech, and the date code "EX" (October 1929) on the left side of the lightly scroll engraved takedown collar. Extensive engraving is present on the receiver, chiefly scroll designs with textured backgrounds, which extends down the trigger guard and magazine while showing a number of floral accents, a starburst on the front of the magazine, and a series of game scenes on the sides and top. The left side is engraved with a family of deer moving from a clearing into the woods, the right shows a young deer fleeing a bear, and the top is decorated with a growling bear. Both the forearm and stock are finely checkered, with the forearm featuring a combination sling swivel and mounting screw, a multi-point checkered wrist, engraved "CLA" initials on a golden inscription panel on the underside, and a checkered hard rubber Remington buttplate. With an unmarked brown leather takedown case.

Very fine, with 98% of the professionally restored blue finish, showing a few light handling marks and some small patches of spotting overall. A small patch of gray patina is present on the lower left side of the receiver, with crisp detail in the engraving and some darkening of the bolt. The stock is good, with some light dings overall, some crackling and roughness in the varnish, scratches in the buttstock and a few small chips at the toe of the buttplate. Mechanically very good. The case has multiple absent or loose components. Though not signed, the quality of work seen on the engraving is inline with known factory examples. A very attractive Premier Grade Model 8 Rifle.
