The barrel flats are marked with two "crown/V" and "crown/GP" proofmarks, two unrecognizable proofmarks, "12", "12/C" in a diamond and "CHOKE". The underside of each barrel is marked "J.W.&S", "WHITWORTH STEEL" and with the matching serial number. Each side of the water table is marked with the matching serial number and a "crown/V" proofmark. The breech face is marked WOODWARD'S /PATENT". " Tightly scroll engraved action, break lever, forearm hardware and trigger guard. The break lever also has a gold inlaid "1". Both locks are marked "J. WOODWARD & SONS". 8 pin locks, gold inlaid cocking indicators, double triggers and tang mounted manual safety with gold inlaid "SAFE". Mounted with a nicely figured checkered walnut forearm and shortened pistol grip stock with a horn grip cap and solid recoil pad with a 3/4 inch spacer. There is a silver initial oval inscribed "DEWITT". Proofed to fire 1 1/8 ounce black powder shells. Length of pull is 14 inches. Drop at the heel is 3 inches. Drop at the comb is 1 3/4 inches.
