Manufactured between 1926 and 1935, the Darne uses a novel mobile breech assembly with a set of fixed barrels. Fitted with a single bead sight on the lightly engraved dished rib, with a gold washed vine engraving at the breech and the St. Etienne proofs on the underside of the barrel group along with a set of three Darne punch stamps indicating the grade. The frame is lightly engraved, and the breechblock shows a fine set of scroll and floral decorations, punch-dot borders and sculpted designs on the recoil shield. Fitted with a checkered knob grip two-piece stock, with a contrasting horn insert at the forearm tip, sling swivels and a solid Eliminator recoil pad. Measurements: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech right .670/left .670 inch; wall thickness at 9 inches from breech right .055/left .055 inch; muzzle diameter right .650/left .640 (approximately full and modified); chamber 2 9/16 inches; drop at comb 1 1/2 inches; drop at heel 2 1/2 inches; length of pull 15 inches (13 7/8 to end of wood); cast off; weight 6 pounds 3.6 ounces. Includes a set of 27 1/2 inch 20 gauge Darne barrels with 3 inch chambers and open/open chokes. The 16 and 20 gauge barrels are not interchangeable.
