Manufactured between 1881-1979. The Darne uses a novel mobile breech assembly with a set of fixed barrels. Single bead sight, with the St. Etienne proofs and E. Jallas & Co. (owners of the Darne firm in the 1930s) on the underside of the barrels and "Darne" on top of the chambers. The frame is lightly engraved and equipped with a safety switch, and the breechblock shows a fine set of scroll and floral decorations, punch-dot borders and sculpted floral designs on the recoil shields. Checkered knob grip one-piece stock and a serrated horn buttplate. Measurements: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech right .675/left .670 inches; wall thickness at 9 inches from breech right .037/left .035 inches; muzzle diameter right .655/left .650 (approximately modified); chamber 2 9/16 inches; drop at comb 1 1/2 inches; drop at heel 2 1/2 inches; length of pull 15 inches (13 7/8 to end of wood); cast off; weight 5 pounds 9.6 ounces.
