A) Springfield Model 1868 Rifle

Description:

Standard markings and features. Dated "1864" on the lock and "1869" on the breech. Includes a socket bayonet.

Rating Definition:

Very good with a subtle smokey brown original case colors on the lock, deeper colors on the hammer, 40% of the original oil quenched case colors on the breech, and a mix of bright surfaces, light spotting, minor pitting, and oil staining on the remaining components including the bayonet. The lightly sanded and refinished stock is fair and has some small dents and scratches and a few absent slivers and small chips. Mechanically excellent.

Rating Definition:

Very good with faint shadows case coloring on the exterior, crisp gray and brown patina throughout, and light pitting/spotting. The bayonet is brighter with and has some dark patches. The refinished stock is also very good and has two faint cartouches, on crisper, and some minor dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
