Manufactured by Lamson & Co. of Windsor, Vermont, from 1864-1865 with a total of 1,002 delivered to the U.S. government in May 1865. The left side of the receiver is marked "E.G. LAMSON & CO./WINDSOR VT./U.S./BALLS PATENT/JUNE 23 1863/MARCH 15 1864". The patent dates are partially obscured by an added non-factory magazine cut-off. The stock lacks cartouches, and there are no visible single letter sub-inspection marks on the metal components.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel has a mottled gray patina mixed with some faded original brown finish at the muzzle. The remaining metal surfaces retain 97% vivid original case colors. There is a mark behind the front sight. The wood is fine with an added coat of varnish, a couple of gouges, some chipping near the toe and some minor to moderate pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
