Description:

The New Model Army revolvers were manufactured from 1863 to 1875. The majority of those manufactured for the U.S. Government would have been manufactured under Civil War contracts and likely been carried during the war. They were the primary Union revolvers after Colt's factory fire. Many of these also saw hard use on the Great Plains and the West after the war. This example has a "GP" (Giles Porter, inspector 1862-1875) cartouche on the left grip and single letter inspection marks throughout. It has the standard Remington markings and "pinched" blade and groove sights.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus with 25% original blue finish on the barrel, 10% original blue finish on the frame, and smooth gray and brown patina on the balance. There is minimal light oxidization and numerous small dings and scratches. The grips are also very good and have numerous small strike marks and scratches, moderate edge wear, and a crisp cartouche. The action is mechanically fine..
