Manufactured in 1940 with the early style Winchester legend including the caliber designation. The floor plate is marked "-SUPER GRADE-." Ramped beaded blade front sight and rear sight has a filler block in place. The left side of the receiver has been fitted with a Lyman peep sight. The polished bolt has a solid knob, early style safety, and is numbered to the gun. The early style receiver has a clover leaf tang, serrated top, and stripper clip slot and is not tapped for scope mounting on the rear bridge. Stock features and early style cheekpiece, early hard rubber grip cap and a checkered steel buttplate.
