This Remington Rolling Block rifle features a scroll and dot engraving by Master Engraver L.D. Nimschke. The engraving is very similar to the pattern depicted in plate 26 featured in R.L. Wilson's book L.D. NIMSCHKE FIREARMS ENGRAVER, page 26. The scrollwork is featured on the frame and trigger guard, which includes a cross hatching with dots pattern on the left side of the frame and the left flats of the chamber and a blank oval engraving on the top flat of the chamber. The lower flat on the heavy barrel is marked "44 CTG'E S". The upper receiver tang is marked with the two line Remington address/patent dates marking, and the lower tang is marked with the serial number inside an engraved banner. Engraved checkering in a shield pattern is present on the hammer and breechblock spurs. The rifle is equipped with a combination beach front sight, a ladder rear sight without graduations and a set trigger. The forearm and straight grip stock are nicely figured walnut with the stock having a cheekpiece on both sides and a crescent buttplate. The scroll and dot engraving is also featured on the buttplate tang and the forearm metal tip. The left cheekpiece has a beautifully engraved American federal eagle inlay, and the right cheekpiece has a beautifully engraved anchor motif. The buttplate has a compartment.

Excellent. The rifle retains 98% plus of the nickel finish showing loss on the buttplate and some light flaking. The wood is excellent with a few light handling marks. A gap is present at the buttplate toe. The engraving is crisp. Mechanically excellent. Truly a beautifully engraved Remington Rolling Block rifle with equally impressive engraved stock inlays done in the style of Master Engraver L.D. Nimschke.
