This is very scarce and desirable original Cadillac Gage manufactured Stoner Model 63A, fully automatic machine gun. The original Stoner Model 63 weapon system was developed by Eugene Stoner in the early 1960s; he was the same engineer who developed the original AR10/M16 rifles. His idea was with a basic receiver group you could reconfigured it into a several different weapon configurations based on the mission needs or area of operation. This proved to be an excellent concept which was successfully used by the elite Navy SEALS in Vietnam for over 10 years. The Stoner system used several configurations and lengths of barrels, different feed tray assemblies, buttstocks, handguard and top cover, etc. that would allow unit armorers to convert the basic platform from a fully automatic rifle into a carbine, light machine gun and even into a fixed belt fed tank version. The Stoner M63 was one of the first post-WWII light machine guns to use a stamped sheet metal receiver and feed tray and cover with a quick change barrel design. This weapon system was used throughout the Vietnam War and remained in the Navy's inventory until 1982 when it was fully replaced by the M60 MG and later the M249 SAWS. The underside of the receiver is marked with a large circled "S" followed by: "STONER 63.223 CAL. 002994/MFG. BY CADILLAC GAGE COMPANY/WARREN, MICH. U.S.A. PAT. PEND." This weapon includes a box of 5.56mm/.223 disintegrating links.

Excellent with 95% of the black parkerized finish showing light wear and handling. The plastic components are all in very fine condition with minor handling marks. NOTE: This weapon is a restricted, National Firearms Act (NFA) Class 3, Fully Automatic Weapon, that is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478. This weapon is currently registered as being "LIMITED TO USE AS A SALES SAMPLE (Pre-86)" and as such can only be purchased by an FFL, with a Class 2 or Class 3 SOT License.
