Description:

This is an example of an M1A1 SMG that was produced in the 1970s by the Auto-Ordnance Corp. in West Hurley, NY. This example is a direct copy of the original WWII version with all the wartime features such as a stamped "L" type fixed rear sight with sight protectors, horizontal walnut forearm, fixed buttstock and side-mounted cocking handle. It has no cooling fins on the barrel and no compensator. Additionally, the entire bolt mechanism was redesigned for faster production that includes a one-piece bolt with a simple firing pin mechanism. The receiver is marked: "THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN/CALIBER 45 M1/NO. M481A", and the right side is marked: "AUTO ORDNANCE CORPORATION/WEST HURLEY NEW YORK U.S.A." The lower trigger housing is marked: "AUTO/SINGLE" and "FIRE/SAFE". This wonderful SMG comes with its original matching serial number shipping box, the shipping document, advertisement paper, and one 20-round magazine.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 99% of the original Auto-Ordnance black parkerized type finish overall showing no evidence of have been fired. The wood components are also all in like new condition with no handling marks. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
