An excellent example of an original and very scarce fully-automatic Armalite AR-18 rifle manufactured by Armalite in Costa Mesa, California. A contemporary alternative to the M16, the AR-18 was designed to be robust and simple to produce, using a short stroke piston system and stamped receiver components. Though not accepted by the military, there are those who consider it to be a superior weapon, with several modern proposed replacements for the M16/M4 platform using a similar piston arrangement. Post front and adjustable two leaf peep rear sights, with a flared flash hider, maker's marks on the upper receiver, and the ambidextrous three position selector on the lower. The receiver is mounted with an Armalite 2.75x20mm scope. Ribbed and vented handguard, with a "AR-18/ArmaLite" marked forward and rear grips, and a side folding buttstock. Includes three extra magazines, scope box, and instruction manual for the scope.
Excellent. The metal components have 95% original phosphate finish with areas of mild edge and high point wear, handling marks overall, and some small surface scratches and nicks. The grips, handguard and buttstock have small dings, and scratches throughout and some small chips around the grip end. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
