Manufactured in 1952, the exact path this weapon took from the Soviet Union to the People's Republic of Vietnam is unknown, but included paperwork indicates that it wound up in the hands of a Sergeant Robert Farmer with the 2nd Battalion 7th Marines stationed in Da Nang in October of 1970; October 1970 represents the end of 2/7's time in Vietnam, with the 7th having seen action in a variety of named operations as well as the Tet Offensive, giving Sgt. Farmer numerous chances to take a souvenir.
