Description:

According to an included unsigned statement, this pistol was the property of one Lieutenant Commander Robert Conyers of the HMCS Chaudiere. Originally operating as the HMS Hero, the Chaudiere spent it's British service hunting commerce raiders, performing convoy escort to Malta and Tobruk, and participated in the 2nd Battle of Sirte and Operation Vigorous, and as a Canadian vessel performed trans-Atlantic escort duties and English Channel security during and after Operation Overlord. In March of 1944, Chaudiere participated in action against U-744, which was run down after 30 hours and forced to surrender. Eleven handguns were confiscated from the surviving crew, including this one, which was retained by Conyers and passed down in the family. Fixed sights, with an "eagle/swastika/M" on the side plate and "N/2104" on the front strap, indicating Kriegsmarine issue from a North Sea depot.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 97% of the original high polish blue finish, showing some mild spotting and handling marks overall. The grips are very fine and show a few mild dents. Mechanically excellent.
