Description:

This is a fine example of a properly restored early DWM Model 1900 American Eagle Luger pistol. These pistols were the first commercial contract Lugers offered for worldwide sales by the DWM factory. They can be found in the 2000-19000 serial number range. This example carries an earlier serial number, and it has the standard American Eagle crest over the chamber area, DWM logo on the front toggle; however, it does not have any of the standard commercial "Crown/N" proofs nor is it stamped with any export markings. This pistol has the early features such as the early short frame, dished toggles with toggle lock on the right side, recessed breechblock, 4 3/4 inch fast tapered barrel, grip safety and no stock lug, first pattern safety with no frame markings with the heavily checkered safety lever with the larger head. The early Lugers have straw colored small parts and checkered walnut grips. It is correctly serial numbered in the commercial fashion with the serial number under the barrel and on the front of the frame. It is complete with a nickel plated magazine body with a unnumbered wooden base. The left side of the frame is stamped with a circled "JVM" which probably indicates that it was restored by John Martz.

Rating Definition:

Fine as professionally restored with 98% of the current blued finish overall. The small parts have also been restored and now retain 50% of their fading straw colors. The grips has distinct checkering on both sides with minor handling marks.
