Very Good Late-War Pattern Waffen-SS Uniform Set in SS Oak Leaf Autumn Camouflage

Manufactured late in World War II, both the tunic and trousers in this lot feature SS Oak Leaf (Eichenlaubmuster) camouflage, introduced in the early 1940s and used through about 1944. While the cloth itself is reversible, featuring a mixed orange/brown "autumn" color scheme on one side and a mixed green/brown/black "spring/summer" pattern on the reverse, the garments themselves were made non-reversible, with the autumn side on the exterior and the spring/summer pattern on the inside. The tunic is constructed from herringbone twill fabric, with no mounted insignia, featuring a set of gray painted alloy front buttons, a set of straps and buttons on the shoulders for accepting a pair of rank boards, gray rayon armpit liners and suspension hardware (hooks not included), bakelite cuff and collar buttons and a gray rayon interior pocket with "3103" marked in red ink. The trouser are constructed from drill wool in matching double-sided Oak Leaf camo, with a set of metal fly and suspender buttons, a single adjustment strap in the rear, and the interior waistband marked in black ink with "ASS" in a diamond over the size measurements "86 76/102 103". Consignor notes state that this particular pair of trousers is photographed on page 228 of "Camouflage Uniforms of the Waffen-SS" by Mike Beaver as well as Beaver's Five Volume Set, page 858 as an example of the SS camouflage variant of the Model 1937 field trousers, which were produced in limited numbers and seen in use with foreign SS volunteers; Beaver's book calls out the single strap, absence of a rear pocket and double-sided printing as signatures of the SS-M37 trousers.

ConditionVery good overall, showing light staining and wear appropriate to use. The right front pocket of the trousers is losing some stitching, and the buttons show mild rust. An excellent uniform set, produced in limited quantities and difficult to find in any condition.
