This Winchester Model 70 rifle is in its standard pre-war configuration, however, it has had a Redfield one-piece scope base added which is now fitted with a Lyman Alaskan scope. The rifle has a type 1 receiver with the early clover-leaf rear tang that has the rear receiver bridge modified for the Redfield scope base. The receiver has the standard "WINCHESTER/TRADE MARK" on the side wall with the serial number on the right side of the receiver ring. Its fitted with a pre-war sporter weight Winchester barrel that has the two-line Winchester factory address followed by the hand stamped ".30GOV'T'06" caliber markings. The bolt is correctly serial numbered "45343" on the underside, and it has a solid bolt handle knob and it has the early type 1 bolt sleeve/safety, marked on top with an "Arrow" and "FIRE". The barrel and receiver are both correctly stamped with the circled "WP" proofmarks, and the barrel is fitted with a ramp front and rear Winchester factory sights. The receiver as noted is now fitted with a Redfield scope mount setup. The mount has an early Lyman Alaskan 2 1/2X scope serial number 7207. The left side of the scope tube has the two line Lyman Gun Sight Corp. markings, and the scope is fitted with a single standing post reticle. It has a correct low comb, pre-war style stock with the checkered panels on the sides of the forend and pistol grip area with the checkered Model 70 steel buttplate. The left side of the stock has a boxed "RIA/FK 3" cartouche. The rifle is complete with a late WWII type USMC marked M1 carbine sling.

Excellent with 97% plus of the original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear and some blue loss on the muzzle, sides of the bolt handle knob and edges of the trigger guard bow. The scope and mount set up also retain 95% of their blue finish with edge and high spot wear. The optics are clear and sharp. The stock is in very fine condition with a light brown finish overall with nice distinct checkering overall showing only minor handling marks and some light wear on the edges of the pistol grip and on the toe of the stock. The cartouche is clear and distinct.
