Manufactured in 1861, the first year of production. The top of the barrel is marked "ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW - YORK U.S. AMERICA", "COLTS/PATENT on the left side of the frame, and "36 CAL" on the left trigger guard shoulder. The 1850 patent date is stamped in one of the cylinder flutes. The matching serial number is on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, back strap, wedge, cylinder and arbor pin. The loading lever is un-numbered.
