Cataloged from 1878 to 1912 with all frames manufactured prior to 1898. The butt has a three digit contract number (322). The cylinder, barrel and barrel latch have the serial number "25643," which is in proximity to the Japanese contract serial number range 24315-25000 shipped to Takata in early 1889 as observed in "The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson" on page 105. We believe that the serial number "25643" has been obscured by the lanyard ring on the butt. The left side of the barrel lug has Japanese markings. The barrel rib has the two-line address and patent dates ending with the "REISSUE JULY 25. 1871" marking. Fitted with checkered grips and a lanyard ring on the butt.
