This was the first slide action shotgun Winchester ever developed exclusively for the .410 bore. Manufactured in 1940 and subsequently masterfully embellished by Master Engraver Angelo Bee, who was one of Winchester's outside engravers. His style focuses on hunting scenes with intricate background images. The sides of the receiver feature game scenes of two gold inlaid hunting dogs and two gold inlaid quail in a wooded scene on the left side and a gold inlaid hunting dog and two gold inlaid grouse in a wooded scene on the right side. Both scenes are bordered but floral scroll engraving with a punch dot background. There is gold inlaid wire bordering the receiver. The left side of the receiver is signed "ABEE". The trigger guard has the same scroll pattern. The right rear of the barrel is marked with the two line address/patent numbers and the left rear is marked with the proof steel, model, trade mark marking followed by "410 - 3 IN. CHAM.." and "FULL". The Winchester oval proof is marked on the upper left of the barrel and receiver at the breech. Red bead front and brass mid sights on the matte vent rib, 3" chambers choked full. and jeweled follower and bolt. The pistol grip stock and forearm are high gloss extra fancy American walnut with Fleur-de-Lis checkering, a Winchester grip cap and black checkered Winchester buttplate. Drop at the heel is 2 1/4 inches, drop at the comb 1 1/4 inches and the length of pull is 14 1/8 inches.
